NASHVILLE, Tenn. – September 3, 2021 – Anyone who has ever been within a stone’s throw of the music industry knows success doesn’t come easy. Even those “overnight successes” put in years of hard work, mistakes, and playing cover songs for tips before they ever graced the radio. Award-winning podcast host, owner and Executive Producer of Tallulah Films, Rolling Stone Culture Council member, and entertainment journalist Karina Michel Feld writes in her new book, Meet Nashville’s Rising Stars: A Collection of Inspirational Interviews from 25 of Nashville’s Rising Stars (Authority Magazine Press, October 1, 2021), “The entertainment business has more unpredictability and excitement than any other, and once you’re in it’s tough to leave. But why ever would you?”
She elaborates, “Having been an actress, writer, and film producer, music has long been the spark to my earliest memories and a way to connect and reminisce. I hope that listening to [these artists’] stories and ups and downs will bring you joy and help you live in the moment. . . Less polish and more authenticity. . . just showing up can sometimes be half the battle.”
In 2020, Karina launched her podcast, “Coffee with Karina” – Entertainment Unfiltered, which has won several awards including a Communicator’s award for her interview with Don McLean. She has interviewed everyone from 2020 NBC’s The Voice winner Todd Tilghman to Def Leopard’s Rick Allen. But, it was her conversations with Nashville’s up-and-comers that inspired her book.
The book is a current inside look at the heart and soul of Nashville and just may become a collector’s piece as the featured artists rise to fame. It’s a must-read for anyone dreaming of entering the entertainment industry and pure entertainment for music lovers and anyone who’s ever wondered what it’s like to live in Music City. It is also a bit of a time capsule, as these interviews took place during the COVID-19 pandemic when the entertainment industry came to a halt.
Karina shares, “The music industry has been hit hard the last couple of years. This is a glimpse of hope and shows the resilience of these artists and what they use to stay positive. They share some great stories of mistakes they’ve made and also the things they’ve done right. I’m excited to share all of that.”
Since their interviews, some of the artists have gained a bit more notoriety. Liv Charette was recently featured by Hollywood Life, CMT featured Essex County’s “So Good” music video, Raleigh Keegan recently opened up in People Magazine about meeting his biological mother, and Lauren Mascitti’s American Idol exit was featured by Billboard.
